WHO WE ARE: We are a community interest mountain bike trail company with a difference, making a difference. We have over 17 years of experience in the sports and leisure industry, 9 years experience building trails and 6 years specifically working in the mountain bike industry. We have a multitude of sports and activity leadership qualifications and we possess outdoor rescue emergency care first aid qualifications (including cat F, for catastrophic bleeding). We also have child protection qualifications to ensure all our younger riders are kept safe at all times. We are a British Cycling affiliated club and we’ve taught people of all ages from 2 year olds to early people at multiple levels of ability in a wide variety of sports including mountain biking.

WHAT WE DO: currently we mostly teach children how to ride balance bikes and bikes but we also do free rides for families and adults when there is demand for it and other events. When we have land we have a mountain bike centre where you can learn how to navigate proper mountain bike trails or keep your skills fresh. We hand build all trails to ensure minimal damage to the environment and we also do everything possible to create new habitats and encourage plant life to grow. Currently the balance bike and bike sessions are our main services so please see the Baby Blazzers or Junior Jumpers pages for more information.

WHAT WE’VE DONE: we’ve had land twice before. Once in Croxteth park and once in Rainhill. We can always put a full history up another time if people request it but it would be almost as long as a book so we’ll keep it brief for now. Croxteth park was the beginning of our journey. We had many, many, set backs and heart aches there but it was also the place that ignited the fire of Trail Blazzers and made us go from a dream to a reality. This was where we learned our trade and was our entry into the business world. We had roughly 6 acres of land although it was never truly measured. We hand built 4 trails there and removed ALL non native species of plant and tree by hand allowing the natural species to flourish as well as filled over 30 bin bags with over 40 years worth of rubbish helping to restore its natural beauty and providing new habitats for wildlife. Then we had land in Rainhill. There we had 8 acres of land with 3 trails, all hand built. Once again we had a few set backs, not many but they were massive, things like covid. We only had the land for 2 years and we spent most of that time closed due to the politics regarding covid. The little time we were open we managed to achieve a lot. We had numerous things that were just waiting to happen but never got started due to covid but we did manage to work with St Helens youth service a bit and welcome hundreds of people to the centre and family. We spent pretty much most of those 2 years living outside like a tribesman. Digging all day and riding round with riders, then of a night settle down for the night next to a fire. Cook food on the fire, then kick back, relax and watch a movie to go asleep too. It’s not for everyone but I loved it. Some nights if something like steak had been cooked, you’d get a visit from the local foxes. In the morning the floor looked like it had been carpet bombed from where the fox were digging trying to find the source of the meat. Since Rainhill it’s been up and down, stop and start until the start of 2023. Since then we’ve started doing the balance bike and bike sessions and trying to find more land. More permanent land to rebuild once again and create something Truly special and unique for all.

FUTURE PLANS: In the future there are many plans both tested and untested. Some plans are things like to expand to be able to bring employment and education to local people and other general opportunities. To get land again so we can continue to build something special, a place where people and nature can come together once again and all to benefit from our work. In past sites we’ve had foxes and squirrels who use to use the trails early morning as a assault course, Canadian geese and ducks who’ve used ponds as homes and even had animals making homes under our obstacles. Plus much more.

ON A FINAL NOTE: From our C.E.O. – Here at Trail Blazzers we genuinely care about positively impacting all life. It’s not about us it’s about the riders and nature. If you follow us on social media long enough you may realise you never see our face. Obviously if you come along to a session you’ll see what we look like and occasionally you may see us on someone’s post if they’ve took a video of their child while we’re teaching, but on our photos and videos you’ll never see our face, our full face anyway. Long time followers know the reason for this is because it’s about the Trail Blazzers family, if I wanted it to be about myself or profit it would be a private business and I’d charge so much more. Every session, every spade full of earth moved, every tree planted. It’s all to positively impact life, whether that’s putting a smile on a child’s face while teaching them a life skill, or finding new ways to help nature thrive while using bikes to bring people to nature and helping them to see it’s beauty. It’s all about the riders. You have all given and still give me all the motivation I could ever need to make Trail Blazzers become something special, so thank you for all your support and may we continue to grow the family for many years to come.
